Why shorter workouts are the key to consistency

One thing that none of us have enough of is time. Hectic schedules leave us with very little ‘me’ time and prioritising our physical and mental wellbeing sadly gets pushed to the bottom of the pile more often than we’d like to admit.

When your day is filled with non-negotiables of work and childcare it’s often the time you’d set aside to workout that is the first to be sacrificed. You might think you have to carve out a minimum of 45 or 60 minutes for a ‘proper’ workout and the idea of fitting that into your day feels unrealistic before you’ve even been able to get started.

But the truth is, your hopes of a great workout routine are less about intensity and much more about consistency. The recommended weekly amount of exercise is 150 minute of moderate-intensity which we can easily break down into three or four 30 minute sessions plus a couple of blustery Autumnal walks a week.

Keeping your workouts shorter than 60 minutes benefits you in lots of ways; you’re more likely to be able to fit them into a busy day and therefore more likely to stay consistent. Your body will be less stressed and less fatigued and will be able to recover more easily from your more intense sessions.

Any bit of movement you can get in each day, be it 10 minutes or 30 minutes, will have such a positive impact on boosting your mood and helping you feel more energised. The more we can build these shorter workouts into our routines, the more achievable a consistent workout routine will feel.

Our 8 week consistency-focused challenge launches on Monday 14th November. This challenge brings you 4 brand new workouts every week, each between 40 and 10 minutes long. It’s filled with full body sessions, targeted muscle group work, cardio classes and mat-based movement. There’s something to suit every mood and help you prioritise a consistent workout routine each week.

If you’re interested in joining us for 8 weeks of feel good, consistent movement alongside the most supportive members then make sure you’re signed up to get started by Monday 14th November. Sign up here.
