I’m running consistently for the first time ever. Here’s how.
There might be a smidge of poetic license in that title. I am running consistently for the first time ever, but sometimes that’s only once a week. What is consistent though, is how I’m feeling about it. In a wild turn of events, every time the childcare stars align, I genuinely want to use that time to go for a run.
In the last 6 weeks I’ve run a minimum of once a week and some times up to 3 times a week. Prior to that, I’d run once since Charlie was born so these are big changes!
My mindset towards running has completely changed and here’s what’s helping me stay consistent.
First things first, I’ve ditched the Apple Watch / Strava / any sort of tracking device. Instead of trying to run a 5km personal best, I head out for a 30 minute run and then come home. I come home with absolutely no idea how far I’ve run, only that I’ve moved at a pace faster than a walk for 30 minutes.
I’ve swapped road running for softer terrain! We are very lucky to live close to Oxshott Heath and Woods and there are so many routes around there for a gorgeously green run that feels much softer on my knees than road running does!
This is a great running playlist and this is a great post-run playlist that will have you performing and endorphins-fuelled dance around the kitchen.
Adding a run to my weekly routine has been such a nice way of mixing up my workouts and it feels good to include a bit of outdoor movement!
