Hacks to Stay Consistent on Holiday: Add Feel Good Movement to your Holiday Days
Staying consistent while you’re on your holibobs might feel a bit excessive but this doesn’t have to be about having such a strict routine that you can’t break away from it. This is about continuing with something that makes you feel so good and helps you have the best possible time away. Be that a little boost from feel-good endorphins, or a little bit of space on your own to recharge your batteries or even some gently mobility to help you feel nice and loosey goosey.
Here are some hacks to help you stay consistent with your workouts while enjoying your holiday.
Body:
1. Travel light:
Hand luggage allowances aren’t what they used to be when you’re tight on space, your workout kit might be the first thing to go! Resistance bands can be shoved inside your favourite pair of wedges and suddenly you have your workout kit without having to make any outfit compromises!
I’d recommend this resistance band and Pilates ball set which can be inflated / deflated for easy packing! The beauty of Barre workouts are that they can be done with no shoes on so there’s no need to keep space for trainers in your case!
2. Plan ahead:
Use the calendar section of the app to build out your schedule for the week. Don’t make it overwhelming, just 3 workouts with lots of variety to help keep you feeling good throughout your holiday.
I’m always a morning exerciser at home and even more so on holiday. As soon as someone mentions a lunchtime rosé, you know your afternoon workout isn’t happening so get it done in the morning then you’re all in for an afternoon of sundowners!
3. Short and effective workouts:
No one wants to spend 45-60 mins doing a workout on holiday. If you’re in a hotel gym / room / balcony and the rest of the group are all doing something else then save yourself the FOMO and just do a quick and effective 20 minute session. Try out the Travel Series which has 6 x 20 minute classes for you to pick from!
4. Add movement to your sightseeing:
Another great way to get yourself moving is by adding in lots of lovely walks, bike rides, or runs. It’s a great way to see a new place, particularly if you’re doing a city break where the heat isn’t too much. Beach walks were the perfect toddler entertainment for us so we found ourselves doing 2-3 long walks a day which was lovely for full body tanning, entertaining the little one and the added bonus of some extra movement!
Staying consistent on holiday takes a wee bit of forward planning and prep but it really can add such a positive start to your day. Who wouldn’t want a little extra pep in their step while they’re on holiday? Short and effective workouts with minimal equipment for the win!
